Evening primrose

Having nothing to do with real primroses, there are around 150 species of evening primrose. This is a white one, with deep purple veins in the petals, which are nectar tracks to attract pollinating insects.

A distinctive feature, clearly seen here, is the cross-shaped stigma. The flower's pollen is loose so only works for some insects. Since these flowers only open in the evening, there'd be insects to match.

The seed oil of the evening primrose is said to be therapeutic but there appears to be no shred of evidence to support this.

Thank you all so very much for your responses to my special anniversary blip of 730, yesterday. I read and appreciated each and every one of them. You are all a huge bunch of legends.

Thanks for hosting BikerBear.

Happy New Year one and all. Peace, health and time with those you love. Xxx
