Looking back
The river Great Ouse runs through our town and right now it's very full and some of the flood fields are underwater. Wherever you walk the ground is absolutely sodden. It made me think back to this day last year when we came to within a gnat's crotchet of our terrace being flooded for the third time, although other parts of the town were underwater for a good while. We escaped but once it's happened to you, you can't help but be on alert. Thankfully, the flood plain is currently doing its job of giving the water somewhere to go, long may that continue!
The upside is the amazing spectacle of a flooded landscape, so from 30th December 2020 I'm posting this backblip of the sun rising over the river and fields.
