The detectorists and the litter pickers

We’ve had a lovely family day at Whitley Bay, We so much appreciated being indoors this year eating a family meal and not freezing in a gazebo with a mince pie. I bought and prepared the food and #2 daughter cooked it. #3 made starters and brought delicious champagne and wine and nibbles.

The children loved their day and after our early dinner (Luke was working tonight) we all went to the beach where the presents of a metal detector and a litter picker were put to the test. We found plenty of litter but sadly no treasure. Nathaniel thinks a day on the Roman Wall might be a better bet.

The daughters and I had all inadvertently bought each other the same present, “Motherwell” by Deborah Orr. We had to laugh - especially as we’d all read it already.

We have sent the children upstairs and we might play some board games.
