Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The "Journey" Begins

I've mentioned in a recent previous page that we've been casually looking for a car for Mr. Fun that would be more comfortable to drive. A car that is a little taller than the Dodge Stratus he currently drives with seats that are more like "dining room chairs" so he can keep his knees bent rather than having his legs outstretched.

A Honda "CR-V" or a Ford "Escape" have both caught our attention. We think there are a few others we still need to investigate, like the KIA and I don't even know the name of their model. So we've also been debating whether to purchase "Pre-owned" or "brand new." In the past, we've purchased both new and used and there are advantages and disadvantages to either.

So today we went to the car rental agency near Ontario International Airport about a 15 minute drive from our home to rent a small SUV for our upcoming trip to California's Central Coast for my spring break. We thought it would be a good opportunity to determine whether this is the vehicle style we want. The agency didn't have the Honda or Ford model that we're interested in, but they had a Dodge "Journey," the red car in my photo, and we think that will be similar enough to give us a good test run of this type of vehicle.

I followed Mr. Fun home. This evening along, with doing my online office hour, I'm packing and getting ready for the arrival of spring break, which will happen at precisely the moment I walk from my classroom tomorrow mid-day. I can hardly wait. We had planned to do a long weekend getaway to the coast the second weekend in March, but our plans got rather jimmy-rigged and we did not go; so we're both quite excited. The last time we were there was February 1.

So hopefully when I add the next page to my Blip journal, we'll be viewing the Central Coast of California. It's about a four hour drive from here. I'm also hoping that we'll arrive there with Mr. Fun's right leg pain-free.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
