Santa Rosa Creek

As John said to me this morning, 'well, we've just about staggered through another Christmas...' We always tend to leave things until the last minute, but this year the last minute(s) were spent on the couch fretting about not getting things done....I'm grateful for a low key holiday with Jim and Dana and the boys.

Jim gets back from Cincinnati tomorrow afternoon where he was helping his brother following back surgery. We are making bouillabaisse, as we often do on Christmas Eve.It's as close as we are able to come to the Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes... My secret to delicious bouillabaisse is the spicy garlic aioli! I guess it's not a secret anymore.

It's been raining just about all day. When the sun made a brief appearance,, we made a  foray down to the bridge with Spike to check out the creek and the log jam. The creek is  very muddy, and we can hear it from our doorstep. In fact the roaring of the creek seems to interfere with Spike's sonar retrieval skills.  Despite the logjam the creek doesn't appear to be in danger of rising above its banks. Part of the problem  during the first heavy rains was the blocked drains on the street and the county did come and clean them out.

Christmas EveEve will be  spent with Vera (on the Telly) and Pad Thai take-out. A lot of restaurants are starting to close their indoor dining again. The majority of new Covid cases are the omicron variant which has spread around the world in less than a month. What next?
