a two ferry morning... up for the first bus from tangxi village to the harbour and then the short ferry over to nangang, there tickets bought, enough time for a couple of coffees before jumping on the big ferry up to dongyin island, the furtherst north of this group... smooth seas, the waters around the island populated by chinese vessels, a couple of them looking decidedly military in form... the island's the most heavily fortified militarised of the group, soldiers outnumbering the local population... donyin township a collection of steep and narrow alleys on the side of a hill, ring road surrounding it but only feet possible in the lanes... a wander up to the northern point, wonderful geology, ragged rocks and small beaches, smuggler's paradise once i would think... and then the heavy skies started to drizzle, cold and angled rain akin to the scottish summer... the rabbit hole back in wien..
