Late Night Shopping
It was my last social and choral gathering of the year … the choir’s annual carol singing for charity meet-up. Twelve of us turned up armed with our carol bibles (the “white” book, or “100 Carols for Choirs”) and fortified by mince pies provided by the supermarket we were collecting for on behalf of their supported charities, we sung our festive favourites for around an hour.
The ongoing pandemic and rising Omicron cases have clearly made their mark with few shoppers passing by on what should have been one of the busiest times of the year. Even so we collected over £80 … once the little boy who took money out of the bucket was instructed to put it back by his embarrassed dad … we only just managed to keep singing through the giggles then!
My image shows the lights and decorations put up through the town. Most of the major shops were still open (some until 10pm or midnight), but as you can see it was very quiet. Still it meant I was able to complete my Christmas shopping in peace, and socially distanced safety.
