Fluffy Siskin
I may have mentioned this before but my parents are very lucky with the position of their garden which has a narrow belt of mixed woodland running along one side. This is, of course, where they put their feeders and boy do they get some fantastic bird action. All of the usual suspects but in considerable numbers and the odd special visitor such as the Sparrowhawk or Treecreeper.
A few days ago, before I came up, Dad said that he'd worked out why his nyjer seed was being eaten in such large quantity. Siskins have found the feeders. So today I decided to see if I could capture any of the activity. Didn't stay out long cos despite the sun having some warmth in it there is still a definite edge to the wind.
Got one or two nice shots of a male Great Tit looking very smart but couldn't quite get a decent shot of the male Siskin that was about. Then I noticed this female sat in the tree. Just love the spottiness don't you?
