MR. HCB USING HIS CHRISTMAS GIFT

Well, one way to make a gardening husband happy is to buy him something he really wants for Christmas!  Today was the day that Mr. HCB decided that he would scarify the lawn with his Christmas present - well it's grass really, but lawn sounds so much posher!

It's not that posh in our garden in that it's not flat and it has lots of moss in it as well as clover and other little wild flowers, but hey, you know we are anxious to help the pollinators, so we have bought lots of wild flower seeds to sow into our grass, but first it needed scarifying.  Having borrowed a friend's scarifier, we decided that it would be better to have our own, so I asked Mr. HCB if he would like one as his Christmas present - he was happy about that and it is a beast of a thing - and if you are interested, it's a Greenworks Scarifier!  I could hire Mr. HCB out if any of you didn't want to bother buying one - so with his modelling fees, he could earn a good income!

I just looked up the difference between a lawn and grass and Mr. Google told me this:

"A lawn is an area of soil-covered land, planted with grasses and other durable plants such as clover which are maintained at a short height with a lawnmower (or sometimes grazing animals) - ha ha, perhaps we should get some of those!  Lawns are usually composed only of grass species, subject to weed and pest control, maintained in a green colour and are regularly mowed to ensure an acceptable length."

You may remember that we didn't mow our grass last year from May until late September, so guess it's just grass and not a lawn and at the moment, it looks very messy!

I have draped some tinsel around the beast, just to remind Mr.. HCB that it is his present, but seeing the state of it now, with all the mud and moss, after he has been up and down the lawn several times, it won't be put under the Christmas tree!  However, I was also pleased when looking at the shot on my computer to see some pareidolia, and I know that this will please and delight a special Blip friend, LSquare, who is the Queen of Pareidolia!
