The Iron Bridge
Thank you everyone for all your comments and for visiting my journal over the past week.
We’re back in Kent. A turgid journey from Shropshire that seemed to take for ever. The M6 and M42 around Birmingham were both solid with traffic. The stretch along the M40 was fine, although we passed an 8 mile jam on the northbound carriageway caused by an accident.
The M25 south to the A3 was just as bad as it was around Birmingham, made worse by another closure and 8 mile jam on the clockwise carriageway.
It was a lovely cold, bright winter’s morning we visited Ironbridge for a coffee and a quick wander around the shops. The Iron Bridge was resplendent with the low sunshine burnishing the metalwork.
The River Severn was high and fast flowing and there was obviously the threat of flooding as the road alongside the river that we’d just driven along had been closed and it looked like preparations we in hand to erect flood barriers.
