Project 365 day 343: Lines

By mid-morning the sky was brilliantly blue, and I went outside to gather greenery for a Christmas wreath making afternoon. Today's abstract lines are dry grass and the orchard fence; I love the photographic opportunities in my garden and surrounding countryside, but some days I really miss having the patterns and shapes of a built environment to photograph. 

After lunch I joined the Quaker crafternoon via Zoom. This began in autumn 2020 as a way to stay in touch and socialise online over knitting, sewing or whatever crafts anyone wanted to try or share; the idea came from a friend of mine who had set up a similar group of her friends from different parts of the country for lockdown socialising. Since the summer, most people have been gathering in the meeting house, and because my family are continuing to avoid indoor spaces and limit contacts, I've not been attending, though joining on Zoom has always been an option. Today the opportunity to make a seasonal wreath drew me back: one of our group is an expert flower arranger and offered tuition and advice,  it's something I've meant to try for several years, and we have a garden full of suitable foliage. My effort (in the extra) is not very accomplished, but I think it's a reasonable first attempt. I will fill it out a little more tomorrow, and see if I can find a few rosehips, before adding a ribbon to hang it on the front door. It was good to have advice and encouragement, but I didn't find it easy to join the chat in the meeting room: the two of us joining on Zoom could not really hear the conversation around the table or see very clearly what the others were doing, and they were not generally aware when one of us was trying to speak, because they weren't looking at us. This means I won't be tempted to join often, and I don't really have time, but it  was a treat to spend an afternoon playing with something new.
