Compound (Un)Interest
Every year at my company we get the chance to invest 800 Euros in a general fund for a period of 5 years. And after 5 years we get our 800 Euros back PLUS all the interest that it has earned in those 5 years.
As you can see here, I made a whopping 10 Euro 58 Cents on my 2016 investment. And my favourite bit about that 10 Euro 58 Cents is that I have to pay tax on it. And paying taxes means I have to deal with the German equivalent of the Inland Revenue. It's just not worth the time or the effort or the frustration. I think I'll have to go on the run with my ill-gotten gains and live an outlaw existence. I may never Blip again - the Federal authorities are probably monitoring this.
In other news, someone here in the neighbourhood was busy with a chainsaw - all morning - a relentless noise that stopped me concentrating and contributed heavily to me taking the afternoon off. I phoned a colleague to say I was going to go. Finished the call, went upstairs, got into bed and it was suddenly 2 and a half hours later.
I'm just permanently tired at the moment.
