Amandine's Plot Treize

By AmandineJardine

Sowing sweet peas

There are very few things you can sow in December, and nearly all of them are under cover/glass - onion seeds (traditionally sown on Boxing Day) and sweet peas are two of them.

It gives the plants a head start and, as they have the whole winter to get growing, they have a stronger root system by the time you plant them out in the spring.

I like to grow colourful sweet peas and white ones, which is what I've done again this year. I always sow way too many (will do a couple of spring sowings too) but luckily they're not difficult to plant here and there on the plot.
