Between fen and mountains

The spider

In some towers, the ropes are hung on wall hooks when not in use. In others, there is an arrangement called a spider onto which the ropes can be hung and then hoisted up out of the way. Our French ringer, Daniel, has cleverly made us one. He printed the web with his 3-D printer and ordered the wooden spider from Africa! I imagine we are the only tower, possibly in the world, to have a ‘spider’ with a spider underneath! We rang the bells for a ringing demonstration in the afternoon. This was part of the weekend’s Telethon activities. Around a dozen people attended and made contributions. There would have been more but for Covid.
