Wetlands
The weather didn’t look too bad this morning so I cancelled my gentle Friday yoga class and went instead to the Lochwinnoch RSPB reserve. What a find, and I spotted my first goldcrest, two of them just beside the RSPB centre. Otters are about with warning signs on the road, like the ones you see across the Highlands and Islands. Nuthatches were abundant and a close up view at the bird feeding station one of the extras. The blip is the view over the wetlands looking towards Lochwinnoch and Dunconnel Hill. The second extra is the ‘Calder Swimming Baths’, the river beside the bridge was playground for generations of folk and a popular place for swimming. I’m keen to try it next summer, when the water level is a bit lower and not quite so fast flowing.
