St Margaret’s Bay

Caught the bus to St Margaret’s at Cliffe then walked down to the bay via the Pines Cafe for coffee and cake.
Then up onto the cliff top and past the memorial to the lost sailors from the Dover Patrol, past the empty coastguard lookout and some impressive houses before dropping down to Kingsdown and the coast path alongside the beach back to Walmer.
We noted that some people can protect their property from the sea. The Kingsdown golf club is very close to the cliff edge and a massive structure has been built on the beach to prevent the sea undermining the cliff. The same is happening in north Norfolk except it is people’s homes not a golf clubhouse but the authorities claim there is nothing they can do.
