Producing nectar for Tui

Harakeke is the New Zealand flax, in no way related to the flax plant in the United Kingdom (for instance). Its brightly coloured flowers provide sustenance for many birds, but especially Tui.

I got this photo beside Erceg's Way at the northern end of Snells Beach, where I had a late afternoon walk. Partly because S expressed concern about me running, and partly because I thought it probably sensible to walk rather than run after having my six month booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine just before lunch. 

Much easier to get it from the local GP practice than trek all the way into the city and join the queue of staff getting a booster shot. Made an appointment, and seen within a couple of minutes of that time and away again fifteen minutes later.

Last week I had entered my details into a central database, and then saved my Covid Passport into the wallet app on my iPhone. In my usual belt and braces approach I also printed out one to carry in my actual wallet

There is a campaign by antivaxxers to try and convince others that there is a malevolent anti-democratic purpose in having these "passports". All it means is that I can prove that I have been vaccinated, by a quick scan. That then means that if I do get Covid (and there remains a statistically low but real chance that I might), I am likely to be 20 to 30 times less likely to infect others. Also I am much less likely to become seriously ill.

Sometime soon, I anticipate, I will be approved to return to work in the unit rather than from home. Our Occupational Health department are being very cautious.
