Let there be lights

Well. Our town council have decided that there is not to be an official Christmas lights switch on this year. So our enterprising neighbours have organised a street lights extravaganza for Friday with us all switching on at 6 pm.
Needless to say our usual modest display of a candle arrangement is not really up to scratch and even if it was it failed last year.
So shopping is required. Tried IKEA yesterday (where the old ones came from) and came away with £20 worth of houseplants. Today we did a click and collect at Dunelm in Halifax and called in at our garden centre on the way home where a couple of other things caught our eye.
I don't think we will be put to much shame on Friday and I'm happy to leave the equivalent of Blackpool illuminations to others.
I am a bit worried that our street will be developing a reputation for eccentricity in the locality because as you know I like to protect my reputation for being completely level headed.
