Temperatures may be still hovering around freezing point, but it's now April so it must be warm enough to sit outside the pub.

This rush to the great outdoors may have something to do with the smoking ban - the receptacle on the pavement cleverly disguised as a dog's water bowl is actually for cigarette butt ends (available from a company called Belson, which as well as selling a range of 'cigarette receptacles', also sells 'ash urns' - an irony that is probably lost on the smokers).

I had to look up BYOF. According to Urban Dictionary, it means 'Bring Your Own Food' (most likely), 'Bring Your Own Friends' (possible) and 'Bring Your Own Fruit' (least likely - this is Scotland after all).
