After the storm...

That wild weekend I mentioned yesterday? It hit us at 8.30pm last night,  when we were suddenly plunged into darkness for the rest of the night.

I presumed power would be back by this morning, but no such luck. Since the house was freezing, I lit the stove first thing to get some heat and even managed to boil a pan of water on the top so that D#1 and I could have a mug of tea - see extra.

With K having returned to Glasgow at lunchtime, it's been a very long day and night with little scope for entertainment as light faded and numerous candles were lit. Not enough to read by, unfortunately.

Thousands of homes up and down the country are similarly affected...
