Casualty

It was a beautiful sunny day today - when the temperature barely got above freezing and there was still quite a northerly breeze.
No particular damage here from Storm Arwen but it was a different story elsewhere.
Parkrun was cancelled as there was too much debris (and at least 1 tree) on the route, and it was icy so I delayed my run for about an hour and the temp had got up to about 2C. I made the most of the delay and got some washing out and washed the floors.
The run was the start of a 3 week virtual ultra and was to have been parkrun plus another lap of the park. What I did do was go to the park and run on the old golf course (too many blockages on the path) and then over into the woods. The first part was okay, though there was a lot of debris to be avoided, and I went more into the trees where it was more sheltered - then I hit the main track which had multiple trees across it for its whole length. So, diversions off-piste (mainly walking) and on the mountain bike trail (which was mostly okay) and I couldn't believe the number of trees down, mainly conifers - see extra.
I managed to escape and start running again and headed back to the park and the grass, and met the sad sight of an old oak tree completely broken.
The rest of the run was fairly uneventful but it'll be some time before we can run in the woods as a group, in the dark.
Mr Rat did a local run and found 2 beech trees down by the ponds and a damaged oak on the golf course.
Been pottering around and sewing since lunch time.
