Madrid Winter
Back blip
Lovely day yesterday in wintery and cold Madrid, but with bursts of sunshine too. A wander before a menu del dia of chickpeas in tomato sauce with a poached egg and then a lovely rich rice with slowly cooked oxtail - both delicious and just right for a winter's day on the high sierra! Oh, and cheese cake!
More wandering then a relax in the hostal and then out for a walk at night to see the Xmas lights, just switched on.
All good until I fell rather spectacularly flat on my front. I was looking at a street sign and commenting to Bb that it was the same name as one we walk down a lot from our flat in Rio to Copacabana beach. Before I knew it, I'd stepped into one of these holes in a metal grill through which trees are meant to grow…. It this did not have a tree, it was just the perfect toe trap! I lost my footing and over I went. I'm surprised nothing was broken, but today (Saturday), I'm sore and a bit bruised. Very lucky! Maybe the extra clothing helped or the extra kilos collected during these last months! We both commented on the fact that many people came running to help, checking that I was ok and asked if we needed anything. Home to bed after that, with a paracetamol and deep heat cream applied. The Xmas lights were lovely!
Have added a few extras.
