Winter posy

I found these in the garden for the table as we were having 4 friends here to eat tonight.

I wish I’d not bothered as nobody seemed to care what they ate and one of the women drank so much she was very annoying.

(For the record starters were sour dough toasts with tapenade and beetroot and walnut hummus. For the main we had harissa chicken with prunes and chickpeas in a tomato sauce, kale stir fried in chilli oil and potatoes. I made my panettone and marmalade bread and butter pudding. Then it was cheese.). Mr C reminded me I should be more discriminating and cook cheap and cheerful pasta for them and save my effort for more discerning friends.

Anyway they enjoyed talking about their families and people they knew and holidays. And Covid. It’s safe and comfortable for them. And boring.
