Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Forgiven!

This morning we went to Ali's where Colin and she tended the garden and I tended the baby! She's very much taking notice now and chortled away at her image in the mirror when I held her up to it. You can't help but smile!
Colin and I then went into town. He had an appointment at the Apple Shop which ended in him being given a replacement phone so he was very happy. He'd only gone in because the protective case he'd bought had started to peel away!
I went into the Portrait Gallery cafe to wait for him. They have their Christmas tree up in the entrance hall, and as I said in my title, they are forgiven for being so early, because it does look beautiful. The Grand Hall is a lovely space, there is a beautiful detailed painted frieze, around the 1st floor gallery level, of significant Scots all depicted in chronological order. It was painted by William Hole, RSA. The walls of the upper floor are painted with frescos, also by him and are worth a look on their own without going further into the galleries. The ceiling of the great hall is a beautiful star map.
We have two large paintings by William Hole in our church. They were gifted to the church when the Chapel at The Hirsel was demolished. He did a number of paintings on biblical themes.
Back home it was time for a quick dinner as it is bridge night tonight. I was pleased with my play tonight, you can guess from that that we won!
We bought our tickets for the Botanics Christmas lights event, we're going on Kathryn's birthday, with her family too, as we have for the last couple of years
Keep safe folks. I'm still testing every second day and happy to be clear.
