Matchsticks
I revisited the Botanic Gardens in Canberra today. And naturally headed first to the Banksia Garden. This is a newly established garden, created to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
There are around 170 species of Banksias, and they grow in most parts of Australia. Some of the most spectacular are from the south-west of Western Australia. My blip today features Banksia cuneata, commonly called the Matchstick Banksia for obvious reasons. There is more information on this webpage of the Native Plant Society.
