Pendle Hill - Approaching the Summit

Another cold clear and dry day saw us heading up Pendle Hill from near Whalley. Famous for its association in the 17th century with the Pendle witch trials the summit is also the site of a Bronze Age burial mound.

A local saying suggests the area around Pendle Hill experiences frequent rainfall: "If you can see Pendle it's about to rain, if you can't, it's already started." Here you can see Ian battling into a bitter wind on the summit at 1,827 ft above sea level - grand to be out and about - more at the summit if it's of interest : )
