Stir up!
Our last service of the church year which is traditionally known as ’Stir up Sunday’, next Sunday is Advent Sunday which is the start of the church year. The ‘Stir up’ is often taken literally as the time to make Christmas puddings but refers theologically to stirring ourselves up to meet God’s challenges.
As if to signal this change we’ve had a big change in the weather today. Glorious sunshine and blue skies but the misted up windows at the back of church tells its own story.
There was a bit of frost on the cars first thing and the walk to church was definitely chilly. Still it’s always great to see the sun.
According to our Rector it is 34 days to Christmas and in 5 weeks time it will be Boxing Day and ‘all over’. He likes to give these cheering messages! Hope it’s cheered you up!
