Pop up house!
This house has suddenly ‘popped up’. The dormer bungalow that was there before it had been empty for a good many years and several applications for planning were turned down in recent years. In the late summer it was bulldozed and they have spent many weeks on foundations and footings.
A huge crane arrived this weekend now we have walls and a roof.
As we walked up the village for our afternoon drink on Wednesday they were just swinging the last section of roof into place. Very impressive to watch, sadly it didn’t have the wherewithal to photograph it.
Had to go out to get a birthday card this morning for a friend’s birthday next month, sadly it often gets forgotten it being December. When I got back I did my ironing and as it was quite sunny I took to the garden for more leaf raking. Another bag from the Magnolias and half a bag from the Oak tree. I was then called in for a bacon sandwich which is our usual Saturday lunch. He had spent the morning making Apple chutney from a bag full of apples kindly given to us but neighbour earlier in the week.
Of course I didn’t want to go back out then and it had clouded up. Very jealous of Frenchtoast whose husband has a ride on leaf sucker, though no doubt they have much more land and many more trees. I’m sure there will be at least one more leaf removal session out there but we are told the cold weather is on it’s way with frost predicted next week.
Once the leaves are soggy they may have to stay on the borders till spring.
Good to see buds in the Magnolias, not that long really till we start seeing new growth!
