Free Spirit

An early visit as the National Memorial Arboretum opened. The egrets flew away as people arrived. It started as a grey and overcast morning, but the light changes and I spent a lovely hour, alone, just thinking and appreciating the peace.

I love the Free Spirit memorial, and if you continue to the most northerly point of the Arboretum, it’s peaceful, overlooking the Croxall Lakes reserve. A lovely selection of birds, wildfowl and, in the summer, butterflies.

Extra : another dramatic memorial as you walk along the path by the River Tame.
