A Walk Through Deb's Life

Olivia Scoots

Now it's time to watch out where we put Olivia down because she doesn't stay in that place long. I had her asleep on this blanket on the living room floor - her usual 30 minute catnap - and next thing I know she scooted right off and was tasting the carpet. She is only three and a half months old but she is ready to move. She is particularly happy when you hold her up and let her feet move as though she is walking. Her face lights up and her arms and legs are in action. She does this left, right, left, right action that I call 'marching.' It's fascinating to watch a baby use instinctual reflexes as they prepare developmentally for future abilities.
