Doorstep rainforest
There's a theme to this week's blips so far of 'paths through pine trees'. Nipped out for a lunch plod almost just before the rain set in. I like this path in the bottom of the valley as it's really green and there's lots of ivy and ferns growing out from the banking. When it's wet it feels a bit like some carboniferous-era forest (apart from the well maintained path and modern day flora...) though the rain can also bring rock falls due to the steep valley sides, it makes for a dramatic setting.
I googled 'the leafiest dinosaur era' to try and figure out what pre-historical period I was likening this bit of the wood too. It is no way scientifically accurate, and I have no idea if the Carboniferous period was the 'leafiest' era of per-histoy, it just felt right. Also learned that dinosaurs didn't come about until the triassic period which was much later too. Good old google teaching me things.
