the burning bush

The trees were on fire this morning (those which still had their leaves, that is). Beautiful sunshine, blue sky - sometimes November days can be like this, before everything turns brown and muddy until March. So I was outside for most of the day, not going far but just enjoying the light.

This afternoon I even did a few hours of gardening, pulling up the beanstalks, the frosted Cosmos and sweet peas, and cutting back the dead border plants. There's so much that needs doing..a bit at a time.

It was my turn to make the tea, but I'd already cooked dessert this morning before I'd drunk my coffee. It was that apple and almond cake again. So nice to find a recipe that works every time.
