The thrush family
There has been some sunshine this autumn, but generally (in this part of the world at least) it has been grey and a bit miserable. We did see the sun just before it set, a 5 minute treat at the end of the day,
Suddenly we have a lot of blackbirds visiting the garden, after seeing none for weeks/ months. I think these are winter migrants into the UK - the Ivans, Stanislauses and Irenas of the bird world. I tried to get a photo of a bird eating berries - no luck, they are too flighty, But the second option was a bird flitting around the fallen Acer leaves - they always fall together, it is not a long drawn out process. My best attempt is the extra.
But the blip is not a blackbird but a song thrush. Outside Spring when they sing loud and clear from the trees these are skulking birds which do not like being out in the open at all. So I was pleased to get a focussed shot of a rare visitor to our garden.
