Poppy Day

We had a special assembly at school and observed the 2 minutes silence at 11 o’clock. I was proud of my class who took it all more seriously than a lot of the older children. We read the wonderful book ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’ and did some work based on the pictures from the book. They can’t get their heads around the fact they not everyone in the army died. We talked about animals in wartime too as I like to wear my purple poppy. Someone said that his guinea pig was in the war but it didn’t die. I do wonder what’s going on in their heads sometimes. Quote of the day came from a child studying a hole in his sock ‘I’ve got a crack in my sock!’.
It’s the 24th anniversary of D and me getting engaged. This means we’re allowed wine. He also bought me flowers.
