VETERAN'S DAY
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 2021, Veteran's Day was observed at the local high school as it has been since the first day. The only exception was in 2020 when COVID reared its ugly head and we were forced to do things virtually.
The main speaker was Major General Timothy Zadalis, ret. of the United States Air Force. In his retirement he now resides in our little village.
In addition, the high school band played several inspirational pieces, the high school choir sang the National Anthem and some other appropriate pieces and I must say, they both knocked it out of the park.
At the conclusion of the program, the students and local attendees thanked each veteran present for their service. Typically, lots of hand shaking goes on but that was suspended for this year with ongoing deference to COVID's ever presence.
Then all veterans were invited to a luncheon prepared by the Culinary Arts students.
It is our hope that the sacrifices of our veteran's and their families are never forgotten.
EXTRA: One of our seniors gives his father a hug during the post ceremony greeting. His father is a veteran of both the Marine Corps and the Air Force.
Best in Large.
