Remembrance 13

Another day, another cemetery.
Walking Paddy I noticed this grave and the name Spencer-Churchill which will be a name familiar to many.
This one was the second son of Lord Charles Spencer-Churchill born on 27 December 1835.. He was educated at Winchester College and joined the Army in 1854 serving at the siege of Sebastapol during the Crimean War.
On leaving the Army he joined the colonial service in the West Indies where holding a number of administrative appointments, including President of the British Virgin Islands from 1879 to 1882, Governor of Montserrat from 1888 to 1889 and Commissioner of St Kitts and Nevis from 1889 to 1895.
He died in Falmouth in 1913.

Today was a day of catching my breath, a decent length walk with Paddy during which I was able to catch up with my friend Paul. Crazy ex Royal Marine who runs long distances around Falmouth broken in the middle by stripping off and swimming in the sea off Gyllyngvase!!

An EPIC Funding Meeting in the early evening, held in all places - a pub - went well, lots of new ideas. This was followed by a brisk walk to the doctors surgery for my flu jab. As a rule I steer well clear of the doctors, it’s always full of sick people :-) and tonight proved no different, I’m now required to have a health check.
This is scheduled for Pearl Harbour Day which means no Fisgard Association Pie & Pint trip to Plymouth, scheduled for the same day.

Better start dieting now!
