Fish supper
A Great Crested Grebe chick, nestled on its parent's back (see debate below), swallows a small perch that it's just taken from it's other parent's beak. Look at the camouflage on the chick. The grebes are paddling out on Goldsworth Park Lake since a coot has taken over their nest on the margins. They're not happy about that, squawking at the coot.
The mother (or possibly father) was carrying the chick for a while but it did swim on its own too. I wasn't sure which shot of these to use and so deferred to Gill who said it had to be this one.
I was chatting with one of the volunteers from Goldsworth Park Community Association who have done a first rate job of restoring the margins of the lake. It's good to see such pride in a community.
I did a blog this morning on Gone Girl just to chip in my own thoughts after yesterday's moan at the Met Office. Don't forget, fellow UK blippers, clocks forward an hour tonight.
