A Walk with the Warden

This morning I went for an organised 'walk with the warden' over Cley marshes. It was an absolutely glorious day, sunny and about 15C, more like Sept than Nov. The warden pointed out things of interest in the running of the area, plus specific birds he spotted. I always love the geese, there were a lot around today. He says to go to the main hide between 3:30 to 4:30 to watch all the geese returning to roost overnight.

Day 603 / Day 114 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The Health Secretary has confirmed the rumours that it will be mandatory for frontline NHS staff and those working in Social Care in England to be vaccinated from April 2022 or lose their jobs, bar those who are medically exempt and those without face to face contact with the public. He said that 90% of NHS staff are fully vaccinated, but 103.000 in England are unvaccinated (not sure if this is just frontline staff). However, they are not required to have a flu jab, although this is under review. In France only 0.1% of health staff who refused jabs left their jobs. The deadline for care home workers to be vaccinated in England is Thurs, the number unvaccinated has fallen from 88,000 to 32,000 since the policy was announced (at least 1 jab). I was disgusted to see Boris Johnson walking around a hospital yesterday and talking to nurses with him being the only person not wearing a mask - what an idiot, leaders are meant to show an example! The ONS has reported 75,474 excess deaths recorded at home in England and Wales since the pandemic started, with 8,824 of those deaths involving Covid. Deaths in private homes have been well above the 2015-19 average since April 2020. Sir Patrick Vallance the CSA said that climate change is a 'bigger problem' than Covid (about time!). He said 'if this is not stopped, this will be a bigger, bigger challenge to the way we live and lives will be lost' - not as strong a statement as he should have made.
