See the unseen

I’m challenged by the message of this artwork left on a bridge today to ‘see the unseen’. Of course, there’s the obvious need to see those who society dismisses but I think there’s also a need for us to see the unseen in each other. To delve deeply, to listen intently and to really ‘see’.

I’ve had some profound, challenging and encouraging interactions this week. With Vicar Johnny who is an endless source of life-giving joy and inspiration. Martin, an ex-intern, who’s just embarking on his first role as a senior youth worker and who’s tender heart is such a delight. And today with my mentee who spent an hour with me like a coiled spring waiting to explode and at the very edge of despair and hopelessness.

Oh, for a heart that sees beyond the surface and seeks to see the unseen.
