Postal Brothers

Another retirement party at the post office I used to work at. The carrier in color was the man of the hour. It's little Jimmy, with his brothers Walt and Johnny to his right.

112 years of carrying the mail between the three brothers. 41 for Jim, 41 for John, and 30 for Walt. 51 consecutive years of having someone in the family working at the P.O.

We all worked at the P.O.when it was a joy and a pleasure to be there. I couldn't wait to go in every morning. Then...the "bottom line" people came in. In my mind...they sucked the joy right out of us, and customer service began to suffer. (Don't get me started.)

Shelley (naturelover) was there. I think she intentionally left early so she could post the group picture to Blip...beating me to the punch.

I put the group picture on my FLICKR PAGE...along with a picture of Merrick, and a campfire shot of one of my Adirondack chairs. I am in the light gray hoodie, and Shelley is in the dark green hoodie. It's still hoodie weather here, although it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.

Best of luck to our friend Jimmy. He was a good worker. I told him it took me about a year to accept the fact that I wasn't working anymore. A strange feeling. The worst thing? I still have post office dreams. Bad English...but even worser? In the dream...I'm always behind...always pressing...always getting attacked by a dog.

I blame those "bottom line" people for the dreams, too. (Not really.)
