Happy Diwali

A great Hindu Festival begins today.

“May millions of lamps illuminate your life with endless joy, prosperity, health and wealth forever. Happy Diwali!”

The coincidence of Diwali on the ancient Hindu calendar today, and the Fireworks Night tomorrow on the Gregorian calendar ensures a bright and noisy few nights in prospect!

The damage fireworks cause to a very wide range of livestock and cherished family pets is an increasing annual concern. In addition, fireworks are used by some to incite anti-social behaviour in public places. Maybe this year will be different?

In our little world of cardboard removal boxes more unpacking was achieved, a home office set up and a few more steps made towards our new normality!

We took a walk to collect the children from school this afternoon. They were full of questions about poppies and remembrance. All very touching.

I took this photo of a recently pollarded tree on the walk home to our house.
