A Big Mess

I listened to the US Presidential radio coverage intermittently through the night ... and today as the results continue to distil. It’s going to get even messier before a final outcome is announced and subsequently agreed.

As a lovely counterpoint I did some early morning long distance reading with our 5 year old grandchild. The book he chose to read to me today was called ‘A Big Mess’!

It was beautiful on the beach this morning despite the chill. Visibility was excellent. Three skein of geese fractured the sky. Their wing beat hauntingly audible long before they could be seen.

In the afternoon we walked the length of the beach - four miles out and back. The Portobello community was out in force. All ages. Countless activities. Socially distanced and proving that the great majority are observing the rules and not meeting inside. The good weather helped, of course.

English lockdown 2 begins at midnight. Our level 3 version continues ...
