Penrith

All set for a trip up to Penrith. The car needs servicing and that's where the Toyota garage is.. ( The place we bought the Rav was only 20 miles away but closed !) 
Still, the sun was out so we had a nice scenic drive up.

Luckily I checked the traffic app . Road works in Ulverston were causing extremely  long tail backs. There is only one road in and no good alternate route if that is blocked.  The tail backs went back 3 miles in every direction. I managed to get close to the roadworks , via the coast road so only a 10 minute delay going out. 

We stopped at the Tebay service station to walk Fletch along the dog walk.. lovely views ( see blips) 

A detour to the garage as we left the M6 but arrived on time . Strolled into Penrith for a pleasant lunch at The Lemon Tree before strolling back. 
Fletch checked out the 'Giants grave'

Drive back was fine. 
I paused to check the travel app which was showing minimal delays so carried on rather than take the detour from Greenodd via Grizebeck.  Mistake. 
 Tailback at Newlands and it took 25 minutes to travel 1.4 miles. 
Oh well we enjoyed the sunset.
