Christmas Time is Here

Does Kendal Town Council know something I don’t? It’s October, we haven’t had Halloween yet and it’s still officially British Summer Time. But the Xmas lights have been up for over a week now. I would have blipped this before, but the torrential rain of the past few days rather precluded standing in the street taking photos!
I suppose the only good thing is that they aren’t turned on at night at the moment, though I suspect that moment won’t be too far away. Perhaps they’re trying to give us the Xmas experience early, in case it gets cancelled again!
Whatever, it was quite nice to be wandering around town in a bit of dry, sunny weather for a change. I’d actually only popped in to get some nibbles for after the show. It’s the final performance tonight and I have mixed emotions. On the one hand, it’s been an absolute blast and I’ve really enjoyed but, by God, I’m knackered! Still, a whole three days off now before Panto rehearsals start again!
Though we did have a bit of a lie in this morning, before getting to grips with cleaning more of the kitchen. Glad to say that it’s all done now and we finally have one room that is a pleasure to walk into. Actually, make that two, as the bathroom cabinet is now back on the wall, though not before I’d dropped it on my foot, trapped my fingers and skinned my knuckles in the process. There may be a bit of touching up required to the paint on the door surround as well - oops!
I do need to get to the theatre early tonight. There is one very quick costume change near the end of the play and I managed to massively rip my Shakespearean robe as I dragged it over my head whilst running around the back of the stage last night. As it’s the last performance tonight - and as the robe is donkeys years old and the material is quite rotten anyway - there is no point in trying to sew it up. Instead, a liberal application of gaffer tape should do the trick for the ten minutes I have to wear that particular costume. And then I really can rip it off as it’ll be going straight in the bin!
