So Stobo

It felt like driving through a perpetual car wash as we made our way to our distaff meeting in Peebles this morning. I have never seen so much water coming out of the heavens or lying on the road. To add to the atmosphere, it was very, very dark. At one point a passing car sent a wave of water over us obliterating everything.

It was a minor miracle that everyone arrived at our lunch venue on time, especially Rosie who had driven up from Yorkshire and had had to negotiate flooding on the road from Moffat.

There were even more small lochs on the roads from Peebles to Stobo. The rain was heavy and relentless but we are all ensconced now and doing our own thing until we meet up for preprandial champagne 5:30. His Lordship used to put a bottle of Prosecco in all our rooms as a welcome, but Rosie’s partner has trumped this with bottles of champagne in the rooms. I have a feeling we will be exceedingly merry before we even reach the dining room
