Late Finish

Long day.

Around 930pm, the Tracksiders evening special is heading back to the yard at Pendre.   Tracksiders is a family volunteer working group where children and their parents do mostly outdoor jobs around the railway.  Started by a long time friend when their own children were small, it has consistently done what it set out to do in a friendly fashion.   Evening social activities are always part of the programme.   A fun activity holiday where all the activities are free!   It's also fed a lot of young people into careers as volunteer Guards, Firemen and Engine Drivers  too.   I'd run into them at Wharf after my day shift at Abergynolwyn  cafe.   Realising that their planned evening barbecue at Aber was likely to be disrupted by the gales blowing up the valley, I offered to drive up after tea at Jamie's and open the cafe so they had somewhere warm to eat.  It was good to see a few old friends too as Ruth, Jamie and I have all been Tracksiders in the past.

Otherwise, a very busy day at the cafe.   Fun, the time passed quickly.
