First Fruit

Quite a few years ago I saw a magnificent pink berried sorbus in a Scottish garden, Sorbus hupehensis.   A small to medium sized tree, I thought it might make some shade for our outdoor dining area as well as being a striking ornament for the autumn garden.   I sowed some seed and a little plant resulted. Now seven feet tall but slender and still rather insignificant, it flowered for the first time this year and has produced its first crop of berries, albeit just a couple of bunches.   Perhaps it will go on to better things for the next owner.   I might take a few berries and start all over again.

Another day of sorting, including a trip to the tip to deposit a carload of rubbish - mostly cardboard and dead electricals.   One more day here before we return home to Wales.
