Bushy House in Bushy Park
Lovely to see Bushy House in the sun this afternoon. I often cycle past it but usually in the morning so the sun is not shining on the house.
The house was built around 1714 by the Earl of Halifax and was later lived in by William IV ( before he became king) and Queen Adelaide around 1830. After Williams death in 1837 it became Adelaides official residence until her death in 1849.
In 1902 the new National Physical Laboratory was opened at Bushy House and it is still part of NPL, although most of the work now goes on in lots of newer buildings.
