A long day in the garden
W mowed all the grass - including the meadow, and raked some of the meadow.
I cleared the top end of the pond of the first of the autumn leaves, and a good deal of weed. We then put a net over the rill, which is the nearest end of the pond to the oak tree, to try to prevent the worst of the leaf incursion.
As we finished that, W commented on the light - but by the time I had returned from the house with my camera, I had of course missed the best. Still, the autumn colours are looking good.
There remains a lot to do clear the pond - both bog areas need to be cut down, and one of us needs to don waders - the vegetation in the larger part of the pond is so excessive that you can barely see the water (see extra). But that's not going to get done till we get back from our next holiday - setting off to Ireland early on Thursday morning.
The best part of the day was that at 4.30 in the afternoon it was warm enough to sit on dad's bench in just our sweaters and relax, whilst enjoying the fruits of our labours (second extra).
