Trafalgar Day

Mrs S and I had an early start out towards Newquay, we followed that with a cooked breakfast at Chacewater Garden Centre. This is what greeted us at the entrance it’s not yet Halloween but Santa has arrived in Cornwall.

Trafalgar Day, the annual day of commemorating Nelsons victory over the combined French & Spanish fleets is upon us. It has a special significance for Falmouth, months before the 1805 battle part of the British Fleet departed from the Carrick Roads in Falmouth for blockade duty.
Early November saw HMS Pickle arrive in Falmouth bringing news of the victory and Nelsons death.

Tomorrow night the Falmouth Royal Naval Association and guests will celebrate with a three course meal and tot of rum.
